Dimapur, Dec. 7 (EMN): Alleging that six officers in Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) were found to be over-staying in service even after completion of 35 years, Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has demanded immediately released within seven days.
In a representation to the state chief secretary jointly appended by its president Kesosul Christopher Ltu and education secretary Muphatho Nyuthe, NSF has accused PHE department of violating of the provisions of the Nagaland Government Retirement Act 1991. The Act clearly stated that a government servant is to retire after serving for 35 years or on attainment of 60 years of age, whichever is earlier, the representation said.
It alleged that six officers including two executive engineers and four sub-divisional officers from PHED were found to be over-staying in service even after completion of 35 years of continuous service whose appointment clearly indicated as on 11-02-1983.
It referred to the order passed by the P&AR department (O&M branch) dated 14-11-2018, “In terms of the Nagaland Retirement from Public Employment (2nd Amendment) Act, 2009, it is conveyed that the service-length of 35 (thirty five) years of the official concerned shall be counted from 11-02-1983, that is, the date of appointment as computer grade-II, and the officials in question shall stand released from service with effect from 28-02-2018.” The order also stated that it had the approval of the state chief secretary, the representation added.
In view of the above stated circumstances, NSF has demanded that officers over-staying in service should be immediately released within seven days time from receipt of the representation.
