Dimapur, November 25 : In the backdrop of many schools and colleges in the State charging exorbitant fees from the students, the NSF has urged the government to seriously look into the matter and come up with a ceiling fee structure for all the educational institutions in the interest of the student community.
Seeking his intervention and necessary action, the NSF, in a letter to the Chief Secretary, on Friday said many schools and colleges in the State are charging exorbitant fees from the students in absence of any proper guidelines from the government and the department concerned to monitor it. Stating that majority of the people in the State are farmers and have low earnings families, it said the only way for our people to compete with the rest of the world is through education.
“However, instead of giving equal opportunity to the students, educational institutions are charging exorbitant fees from the students and imposing untold hardship to the weaker section of the society,” the NSF letter signed by its president Subenthung Kithan and secretary, education, Imtiyapang said.
