DIMAPUR — Nagaland is set to witness a spell of unsettled weather over the next four days, with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on Monday warning of widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several districts—with April 29 expected to see peak activity.
In a weather advisory, the NSDMA stated that light to moderate rainfall is likely to begin on April 28 across most districts, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning.
Districts such as Peren and Kohima may experience heavy rainfall at isolated locations, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph.
The situation is expected to intensify on April 29, when widespread thunderstorms and lightning are likely across the state, along with moderate to heavy rainfall at scattered locations.

Districts including Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland and Tseminyu are likely to experience intense weather conditions, raising the possibility of localised disruptions.
Weather activity is expected to gradually ease from April 30, with light rainfall at a few places and isolated thunderstorms.
By May 1, no significant weather warnings are anticipated over most districts, indicating an overall improvement in conditions.
The NSDMA advised residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms and lightning events, urging people to avoid open areas, take shelter during lightning strikes and remain updated through official advisories.
Citizens were also encouraged to use the Safer Nagaland App for real-time alerts and verified weather updates.
