Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): All the district disaster-management authorities have been asked to “take up precautionary measures and check its preparedness level” at their respective district in view of the ‘erratic pattern’ of rainfall recently.
In an advisory issued on Thursday, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority stated that the monsoon in the Northeast region has been predicted to be slightly below normal, and therefore a deficient rainfall.
“However, given the erratic and uneven nature of rainfall pattern prevalent in the region, there are possibilities of rainfall-triggered incidence like landslides and floods during the monsoon period, which last from June-September.” Hence, the alert to the district units.
