In the aftermath of May 1 cyclonic storm that devastated the normal life and affected 643 houses in Longleng, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) officials have reported the district to assist the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in relief efforts. Khrienuo Metha, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland in a statement said the officers reported that damages included 342 houses partially damaged, 245 severely and 56 fully from 23 villages and 11 wards of Longleng town. The officials from NSDMA and DDMA have been compiling reports of damages and also personally verifying sites of disaster in the district. Places visited include 11 wards of Longleng and villages under Longleng Sadar and villages under Sakshi circle. The NSDMA after assessment and verification will be sending relief as per the guidelines set by the Ministry. Officials from the NSDMA also visited and made spot verification of affected sites in Wokha and its sub-divisions. The NSDMA is constantly in touch with the DDMAs closely monitoring all the recent events of disasters caused by the inclement weather.
