NSDMA issues heavy rainfall alert for Nagaland till June 25; public urged to stay cautious as flash floods likely.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a weather advisory forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across most districts of the state until June 25.
According to the latest update issued on Tuesday, isolated thunderstorms and lightning are likely across the state during this period. On June 18, districts such as Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Noklak, and Shamator are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall.
From June 19 to the 25th, all districts of Nagaland are forecasted to receive heavy rainfall, with Longleng, Mon, and Tuensang expected to experience very heavy downpours on June 19.

In this connection, the NSDMA has cautioned that intense precipitation may lead to waterlogging and flash floods, particularly in lowland and foothill regions such as Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli. Citizens have been advised to avoid exposure to lightning and high winds that could disrupt communication and connectivity.
It also urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent any loss of life or property during this period. Additionally, all district disaster management authorities and relevant line departments have been directed to remain on high alert throughout the monsoon season.
