DIMAPUR, AUGUST 6
The NSCN (R) on Thursday showered praises on the three key players/parties involved in the recently signed “framework agreement” between the NSCN (IM) and New Delhi – which is widely expected to give shape and direction to the Indo-Naga political talks in the long run.
In a statement issued today, the NSCN (R) named Prime Minister, Modi, the collective leadership of NSCN (IM) and the interlocutor to Indo-Naga peace talk, RN Ravi and showered praises on them. “We highly appreciate the statesmanship shown by the Prime minister of India, Narendra Modi in getting the Naga Peace Accord signed on 3rd of August 2015. This clearly reflects his sincerity and seriousness in solving the long pending Naga issue.
“The maturity in understanding the unique history and situation of the Nagas by the Prime Minister is also highly laudable. The patience and endurance shown by the NSCN collective leadership, while looking for the interest of Naga people, is equally praise worthy. Mr RN Ravi, interlocutor to the Indo-Naga peace talk also deserves utmost appreciation for working tirelessly and for putting relentless effort to bring an amicable solution to the long drawn Naga political issue,” it stated.
The outfit stated that it has “high hope and expectation” from New Delhi, especially from Modi with his “understanding and maturity on the Naga issue” that his government will deliver an amicable and honorable solution acceptable to the Naga people based on the historical and political rights of the Nagas. It also hoped that New Delhi will “also take into consideration the plight of the Naga people outside Nagaland particularly in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur who have suffered immeasurably in the hands of the non-Nagas and have been exploited for their innocence and ignorance by the other tribes and communities.” Though, we are yet to go through the contents of the draft agreement, we have full faith on the wisdom of the Naga leaders who are spearheading the talks that, they will not let down the aspiration of the Naga people and while we already had a vast experience of many failed accords and agreement in the past which has failed to quell the Naga political movement, it stated.
“We are hopeful that, the agreement will be meaningful, durable and will meet the desire of the people and serve the interest of the Naga people and would also wish to appeal all the Nagas to speak in unison and rise above personal interest so that, we the Nagas are able to extract as much as we can from the GoI while hammering out the solution for the Nagas.”
