DIMAPUR — The Yung Aung-led NSCN/GPRN claimed to have identified and located one Ethomo Rengma , an impersonator who allegedly carried out massive illegal taxation in Nagaland under the guise of NSCN/GPRN (YA), tarnishing the group's reputation.
In a press release, the group warned the accused impersonator to stop his illegal activities or face dire consequences.
As per the NSCN/GPRN (YA), Ethomo hails from Tesophenyü village, under Tseminyu district in Nagaland state.

“He claimed to be a Kilonser, Western Finance in-charge of NSCN/GPRN (YA), with his wife as an accomplice in this dirty act. For the last two years he had fraudulently collected crores of rupees from Nagaland government departments, business establishments and construction companies through his pseudo identity and fake letter heads.
“NSCN/GPRN wishes to clarify and dispel any doubts and misinformation, that it has no affiliation or connection with Ethomo Rengma, and at no point of time authorised this person to collect tax on its behalf,” the release stated.
It went on to state that all taxation pertaining to Nagaland state is handled directly by the central finance committee, and that despite facing extreme difficulties in their struggle towards their goal, the NSCN/GPRN (YA) remains committed to upholding its core values of integrity, accountability, commitment, and ethical behaviour.
Maintaining that the group would never employ a fraudster and corrupt individuals like Ethomo Rengma, the NSCN/GPRN (YA) also claimed to have closely monitored his illegal activities and given him an ultimatum to stop or face consequences.
“He had chosen unwisely which is a dangerous path towards his own peril. If he deliberately chose to remain a thorn on our path we will be left with no choice but to initiate a capital punishment. We know where you are and we will find you,” it stated.
Further, the group sought close co-operation from all stakeholders and urged them to be vigilant about potential fraudsters or unauthorised individuals handling financial matters related to NSCN/GPRN (YA), warning that dealing with such individuals would be at their own peril.
“In good faith we also request the Rengma Hoho and the Tesophenyü village authority to strongly reprimand Ethomo Rengma of his illegal activities for we don't want bloodshed. This statement stands as the final warning to Ethomo Rengma to immediately cease all his dirty activities or there will be no more mercy,” it cautioned.
