DIMAPUR — NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) has claimed responsibility for an attack on the 4th Assam Rifles camp stationed at Ranglom village under Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.
According to a press statement issued by the group, the "Naga Army tactical Unit" carried out the attack at around 8 am. It claimed that to hide their losses, the Indian security forces locked down the area, and therefore the extent of casualties could not be ascertained at the moment.
The statement alleged that as a result of the attack, the Indian forces vented their outrage and frustration by harassing and torturing the innocent public of the area.
"Though it is deeply regrettable that our public has to suffer the consequences of this attack, it was a necessary step in defending our land from the ongoing oppression," the statement read.
It asserted that the Naga Army remains steadfast in its “sacred mission to defend the Naga homeland from the imperialist designs of the Indian state”. The group stated that the operation will continue and the Naga Army is prepared to target the forces and their secret agencies anytime and anywhere.
