  • DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe) has refuted claims by the NSCN-R (Wangtin) that 80 of its members had joined the latter’s fold.

  • In a press statement, the group described the reports, which appeared in various print and social media outlets, as “baseless and unfounded” and “wishful thinking”.

  • It cautioned the Wangtin-led group not to mislead the Nagas by misinterpreting incorrect information and making false claims that may provoke peaceful co-existence at this crucial stage of the Naga political movement.

  • Contrary to their claims, the NSCN/GPRN reiterated that after the joining of its senior Kilonser Khekato Kinimi in the government, the number of national workers who joined to strengthen the leadership of President Lieutenant General (Retd.) Khango Konyak and Ato Kilonser Hokato Vusshe from the NSCN (R) has recently exceeded 60.

  • It stated that among the members who joined the mainstream were senior kilonsers, high military officers, and secretaries who held prominent portfolios and ministries such as defence kilonser, home secretary, defence secretary, ceasefire secretary, and the Naga Army led by Major General Kakiho, GSO-1.

  • Furthermore, the NSCN/GPRN noted that former Kilonser Carlos Zhimo and Nilo Zhimo, who claim to be NSCN (K) members, have been terminated from active membership in the government. The two members, who claim to be the Lotha region chairman and secretary, have been under suspension for colluding with adversaries in their criminal activities. Meanwhile, a few members defecting to their group from USR, Lotha region, and Ao region will not affect the functioning of the governmental activities of the NSCN.

  • NSCN/GPRN advised the Wangtin group to first ascertain the facts and figures in the future before putting them in the public domain.
