DIMAPUR, JULY 21
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has convened a consultative-cum-coordination meeting with all the frontal organisations of the Eastern Nagaland including ENLU, ENPO, ENGOA, ENWO, apex tribal body KU, PPC, USLB, CKS, YTC, KTC, its federating units KSU, CCSU, PSC, YAA, USSC, KSU, sub-unit from Delhi, Kohima, Dimapur, ENPUK, ENPUD on July 18 at Hotel Vivor.
While deliberating on various issues, the house unanimously condemned the killing of Lt. Athong Yimchunger son of Yesumew hailing from Pungro Village, allegedly by NSCN (I-M) on July 1 at Jessami.
A statement by ENSF president, Shahsha L. Menhahu and general secretary, Honang M Jessuhu termed the killing as a mockery to the signing of the Lenten agreement in which the signatories had clearly stated that the NPG have reconciled in the spirit of forgiveness and mutual respect.
Further, the house questioned the national workers as to whether the citizen of Eastern Nagas comes within the Lenten Agreement. The federation also questioned as for whose sovereignty or independence are they fighting for or whether the national workers are confused. The federation stated that whichever group or faction it may be, killing of one’s own brother or countryman clearly indicated that a person or a group was not qualified to be called as a national worker.
The Federation stated that further course of action on the matter would be discussed at its upcoming Federal Assembly at Longleng. All the federating units have been asked to come mentally prepared.
