DIMAPUR — The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has
extended support to the state government’s decision to implement inner line
permit (ILP) in Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts.
- In a press release, the NSCN (U) stated that its ‘Kilo
Kilonser’ Huvito Yepthomi expressed concern over the pressing issue, which
“encompasses every Naga individuals.”
- “It is in consonance with the common interest of the Naga
public in general, regardless of tribal lines, differences of ideologies and
political affiliations, all section of Naga people should stand in solidarity
with the state government in enforcing ILP.”
- The NSCN (U) cautioned that Bangladesh's political
instability is negatively impacting neighbouring countries like India,
particularly northeastern states, due to a surge in illegal immigration.
- “All the states of northeast India are going through an
unbearable problem of illegal immigrants ever since pre-independence era until
present political entanglement that has been going on in Bangladesh, which adds
more fuel to the flame,” it stated.
- It also pointed out that Tripura has been facing challenges
due to illegal immigration, including unregulated population growth, job
competition, economic impact, cultural dilution, and demographic shifts.
- “Our state of Nagaland is not immune to it, it shares a lot
of law and order problems at par with the rest of the states,” it stated.
- Stating that the government could have enacted laws to
address the issue earlier, the NSCN (U) maintained that political parties'
indifference and blame-games enabled the immigrant population to thrive.
- “Lately, government has realised that immigrant influx on
daily basis could be a time bomb which may bring forth devastating consequences
against us, because most of them are religiously motivated and highly
radicalised,” the NSCN (U) stated.
- The NSCN (U) went on to state that the government of
Nagaland had endeavoured several times to enforce or implement ILP in some
districts which were kept beyond the purview of ILP, like Dimapur, but
miserably failed to implement owing to fierce opposition from the effected
community.
- “However, after rigorous and meticulous assessment of the
magnitude of imminent disaster that is likely to come in near future, the govt.
has passed a bill in this effect to curb illegal immigrant, authorising all its
states to identify all of them within 30 days for deportation,” it added.
- The NSCN (U) reasoned since the Government of Nagaland has
garnered “an unprecedented level of political support, moral support and wide
range of approval from all section of Naga society,” it was high time to give
the “last and final push to eradicate the menace of illegal immigrants from our
state forever by enforcing or implementing ILP in all the districts of
Nagaland.”

Kilonser Ino Alezo Venuh, continues to be one of the most credible and
committed Naga nationalist political platforms,” it stated.
