Dimapur, Jan. 9: The NSCN (R) has also opposed the “proposed imaginary International boundary fencing” between India and Myanmar because, according to the group, it “will infringe Naga people inhabiting across artificial boundaries.”
The outfit issued a press release on Monday stating: “The Naga people settled down in the location where they are today thousands year (sic) ago before India and Myanmar government came into being.
"The said artificial boundary has been fenced by India and Burma only in 1972 without consulting the Naga peoples.”
It stated that the move to fence the border was “another ploy to further divide the Naga which is highly questionable and unacceptable”.
According to the NSCN (R), the government India should ‘solve the Naga issue peacefully instead of putting salt on the wound.’
