Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has conveyed greetings to the Sumi community on the occasion of Tuluni festival celebration.
NSCN (R), in a statement issued by its MIP, stated that Tuluni is celebrated in the early part of July (specifically on July 8). Tuluni is one among the many popular festivals of Nagaland celebrated by Sumi Naga with gusto. Tuluni festival of the Sumis and is celebrated after the sowing is done to invoke God’s blessing for bountiful harvest.
It added that arrangement of wedding ties during the festival is considered ideal and is believed to bring good luck. People express joy through dancing and singing. Youth also partake in indigenous sports, cultural activities and feasts are arranged with prayers.
NSCN (R) expressed optimism that with the festivity, Sumi brothers and sisters would continue to shine in every spheres including being ‘advocators of peace, torchbearers and harbinger of forbearance among Nagas. It further wished that the festival would bring ‘prosperity and good tidings’ to the Sumi brothers and sisters.
