Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): NSCN/ GPRN (Reformation) today denied that Alo Rengma was never its members and termed the allegations ‘totally false and baseless’ adding the challans found with him were not issued by them.
NSCN/GPRN (R) was responding to news report in which the Assam Rifles claimed to have arrested NSCN (R) member and subsequently published in some sections of the local dailies on June 26.
NSCN (R) statement issued by MIP has asked the 3 Assam Rifles to investigate who had authorised him and issued the challan in the name of NSCN (R) and clarify to the public at the earliest.
It further warned those renegade not to drag its name unnecessary under any circumstances which tarnish the good image of its government. It also asked the 3 AR to enquire thoroughly with proper information before publication in the near future in order to avoid any further complication and misunderstanding among the peoples.
In a separate statement, NSCN (R) said it has recognised formation of Tikhir region to function as independent region. However, it said the NSCN (R) has no role to determine the jurisdiction coverage of the said region as it has to be functioned in accordance with the history through mutual understanding with neighboring Eastern Naga tribes.
It appealed to Tikhir tribe and other neighbouring Eastern Naga tribes to refrain from misunderstanding the concept and avoid any form of attitude that may infringe peaceful atmosphere in Eastern Nagaland.
It said one time popular Tisari region comprising of Sangtam, Yimchungrus, Mukury, Pochury and Tikhir. It, however, disintegrated gradually caused by various tribes. Even after bifurcation of Sangtam region and Yimchungru region, the said region remained functional on the collective strength of Pochury, Mukury and Tikhir assisted by some small sub- tribes. It further disintegrated after 2015 March NSCN (K) split. Only two smaller tribes, Pochury and Tikhir were left to be functioned as Tisari region.
Creation of a separate region for Tikhir tribe was necessitated as the Pochury region had formed its own region in recent time.
