DIMAPUR — Expressing
concern over mushrooming of numerous Naga political groups, the Ato kilonser of
NSCN/GPRN, Hokato Vusshe, has called upon the Naga populace to make a clear
distinction between those who are really fighting for the cause of the Nagas
and keeping the flame of freedom alive.
Vusshe was of the opinion that only time will tell that
those political groups, whose spirit of nationalism is resolute and whose
leadership are guided by the true value on the teaching of Jesus Christ, would
withstand the passage of time and reap the harvest of the Naga’s struggle for
self determination.
He made this statement during the 46th Naga Republic Day
celebration held at the CFSB office premises on March 21. He has termed as an
opportune time for the Nagas to segregate the groups that are really fighting
for the cause of the Nagas and keeping the flame of freedom alive.
An NSCN/ GPRN press release through its MIP stated that its
Kilo kilonser, Viniho Kiho, attended the programme as the chief guest. The
presidential address was read out by the chief guest followed by presentation
to the dignitaries by the organising committee, obituary report and rank
declaration of the Naga army by the Ministry of Keeya Affairs. A song was
presented by Kussun Yimkhiung.
Dwelling on the current political scenario, Vusshe stated
that Nagas have always been a free people since time immemorial adding that
they were never conquered by India. He stated that Nagas are demanding to
recognise their inherent rights and leave them as a free sovereign nation.
“The stand of NSCN is plain and clear. No matter what, it
will never compromise its ideology and principle. Our political vision is based
on the will of the people and our approach is pragmatic to the current
political landscape of the state.
“We will have a political dialogue with the Government of
India (GOI) with our own set of competencies and charter of demands considering
the realities of the present situation, while avoiding unrealistic and
idealistic approach,” Vusshe affirmed.
Stating that Nagas have suffered enough and the aspiration
to determine their own course has been long delayed, he felt that any political
negotiations meant for the Nagas should be laid before the people to be
discussed by all the stakeholders before finalisation of any political
settlement on the Naga issue.
“The Government of India (GOI) and the state government
tactics of playing hide and seek with the Naga political issue by giving false
hopes and promises to the innocent Nagas are only aggravating the situation.
The NSCN will never forgive those misleading the Nagas at this crucial
juncture,” Vusshe stated.
He reiterated that it would never compromise to any group or
a person that works against the Naga people.
The NSCN urged to all the different political groups, civil
society organisations and the entire Naga people to keep personal agendas aside
and work
cohesively for the broader benefits of the Nagas.
“Let us all rededicate our lives for the cause of the nation
with selfless service and stand firm in our commitment,” Vusshe added.
He further urged everyone to humble themselves before God
saying, “Only if we obey and have faith, God will surely lead the Naga people
like the Israelites and we can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacle.”
