DIMAPUR — The NSCN-K (Yung Aung) has condemned the “senseless and brutal murder” of its central council member (CCM) Haiwang at Tizit village, Mon district, by armed assailants on June 13.
In a press release, the NSCN-K (YA) stated that, “at this most critical juncture when the Nagas are looking forward towards peace and unity, some unscrupulous group (s) currently sheltered by Gol, are trying to upset and ruin the prevailing peaceful atmosphere among Nagas.”
It also mentioned that though the NSCN-K (YA) under the leadership of Yung Aung has ceased fighting within Nagas, these groups are “itching to reopen the ugly past without considering the future consequences.”
It went on to allege that, of late, these groups are on a hunting spree against the NSCN-K (YA) in their attempt to gain favor from Gol by waylaying, kidnapping and killing its members.
Asserting that the “unholy pursuit to hunt down their own brothers in connivance with the Indian agents is delusional and will be counterproductive,” the NSCN-K (YA) further cautioned that the concerned “group will be solely held responsible for any untoward incident.”
Meanwhile, in a separate press release, the NSCN-K president Yung Aung also condemned the killing of Haiwang and asserted that the group will leave no stone unturned to find the “culprits” behind the “barbaric act.”
“In his long and illustrious national career he had served the nation faithfully to the best of his ability. Today we salute and honour him for his selfless service to his nation,” Yung Aung said.
