NSCN-K (Khango-Vusshe) urges unity and renewed focus on an honourable Naga political solution while protecting lawful rights
DIMAPUR — The NSCN-K (Khango-Vusshe) has called for renewed focus on achieving an honourable, inclusive and mutually acceptable political solution to the Naga issue, stating that the Naga political movement must prioritise its core political aspirations over commercial restrictions and immediate economic interests.
In a press release, the organisation said the primary objectives of the Naga political movement remained the preservation of Naga identity, the protection of legitimate political rights and the achievement of an acceptable political settlement.
It said the movement had witnessed the emergence of numerous factions and groups over the decades, each shaped by different circumstances and convictions, but maintained that the collective aspiration of the Nagas remained fundamentally unchanged.
The organisation stressed that the Nagas must uphold unity, perseverance and collective sacrifice until their political aspirations were meaningfully fulfilled.
It called for greater emphasis on constructive political engagement, strengthening common ground and working collectively towards an early and acceptable solution.

On the issue of commercial activities, the NSCN-K (Khango-Vusshe) said non-Nagas who had long resided in Naga areas and engaged in legitimate businesses and other lawful occupations were entitled to have their rights and interests protected under the law.
It maintained that any regulation of commercial activities must be lawful, reasonable and justifiable, rather than arbitrary or discriminatory.
Protecting Naga identity and political rights, it added, should not come at the expense of the lawful rights of others.
The organisation cautioned against allowing peripheral issues, commercial restrictions and attempts to command public attention to overshadow the larger political cause for which the Naga movement had endured for generations.
It said the success of the political movement should be measured not by the extent of control over commerce or the imposition of restrictions, but by the progress made towards securing political rights and achieving an acceptable settlement.
The organisation further stated that the Naga people deserved a clear political direction, a cohesive vision and a future founded on dignity, identity and lasting peace.
It urged all concerned to remain steadfast in their priorities and channel their collective strength towards securing an honourable, inclusive and acceptable political solution for the Nagas.
