Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): Taking cognisance of the earnest appeal and prayer of the Naga people, NSCN/GPRN (K) led by Lieut. Gen. (Retd.) Khango has decided to join the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) Working Committee (WC) maintaining its identity and as partner in the ongoing political negotiations with the Government of India (GoI).
The decision to join the NNPGs working committee came about after thorough deliberation between the NNPGs and the NSCN (K) under the leadership of its president, Lieut. Gen. (Retd.) Khango Konyak, and the general secretary, Col. (Retd.) Isak Sumi, which met at Oking on January 29.
According the Deed of Agreement which was made available to the media, the leaders resolved that all defectors, both civil and military workers within the NNPGs should abide by the resolutions dated May 13, 2017, August 8, 2017, September 19, 2017 and October 6, 2017. There resolutions were unanimously reaffirmed by the Naga leaders present.
The house resolved to offer ten (from February 8) to all the defectors to return to their parent organisation, failing which, the WC, NNPGs would jointly decide on the course of action deemed necessary.
Noting that defection among the Naga political groups has been a thorn in the flesh causing irreparable damage to the Naga cause, the house resolved that all signatories should mandatorily enforced the anti-defection agreement.
The agreement was jointly signed by NNPGs WC convenor N Kitovi Zhimomi, co-convenors Zhopra Vero, Y Wangtin Naga,
Hozheto Chophy, Kiumukam Yimchunger, Toshi Walling, and president of NSCN (K) Lieut. Gen. (Retd) Khango Konyak.
The agreement was witnessed by NTC mediation committee convenor Yesonu Veyie, NGBF president Shahlem Konyak, and NGBF general secretary Shikuto Zalipu.
In a separate statement Lieut. Gen. Khango Konyak and Col. (Retd) Isak Sumi affirmed that NSCN (K) has resolved to partner and participate in the ongoing Indo-Naga political dialogue alongside Working Committee of the NNPGs.
NSCN (K) has also resolved not to entertain defectors in any manner whatsoever and to uphold the NNPGs anti-defection agreement in letter and spirit so as to protect the sanctity of the Naga historical and political rights.
