NSCN(K) Finance Secretary Max Asukomi was apprehended by security forces in Dimapur on Sunday, according to a statement from the IGAR(North). It also said two more cadres of NSCN(K) identified as Asheto Rochelle and Isato Aye were also apprehended from Dimapur in separate operations on Sunday.
All the three cadres are residents of Zunheboto district but were presently staying in Dimapur for carrying out extortion activities of NSCN(K), stated the IGAR(N). Apprehension of these cadres, especially Max Asukomi will be a major setback to the financial operations of NSCN(K) in Dimapur and adjoining areas, the IGAR(N) added.
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang, led by its chief S.S. Khaplang, had last year abrogated from the ceasefire agreement with the government of India and stepped up operations against security forces in Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
