One NSCN (K) cadre, in the rank of a “major”, was killed during the ambush on a convoy of 6th Dogra Infantry Regiment on Thursday in Manipur’s Chandel district bordering Myanmar. The slain cadre, “major” Rajanglung, has been confirmed as the “commander of elite strike unit” that attacked the soldiers and left at least 18s dead.
A press release from the publicity wing of NSCN (K) on Friday expressed grief over his death while “hailing the supreme sacrifice and martyrdom of the commander of elite strike unit Maj. Raja” The outfit stated that the slain cadre had “exhibited exemplary feat of commandeering bravery, ensured safety of all his comrades, the last remaining one on the field assessing the day’s outcome when several shells from reinforcing Dogras exploded” and killed him. “Maj. Raja has earned the distinction as one unique fearless patriot winning the respect and admiration of both friends and foes alike. All through his military career, since teenage till his martyrdom, his achievements are enviable and his records shall ever be adorned with laurels and homage,” it stated.
