DIMAPUR — The NSCN-K (Ang Mai) has alleged that cadres of the NSCN-YA (Yung Aung) group carried out a deliberate and unprovoked attack on its personnel at Hoku village in Nanyun Township, Myanmar, on May 28.
In a press statement, the group stated that it had exercised restraint and refrained from launching offensive actions against the NSCN-YA in response to appeals for peace made by Naga national political organisations and civil society groups.
According to the statement, the attack occurred at around 6 a.m. while NSCN-K (Ang Mai) cadres were engaged in official duties in the area. During the incident, Rajapeyu Sgt. Kambey of Ranchi village under the Tangshang Region sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The group claimed that despite the severity of his injuries, Kambey narrowly escaped death and survived with the assistance of local villagers working in nearby fields.

Describing the incident as a serious violation of the spirit of peace and reconciliation, the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) called upon Naga political organisations, civil society groups, and peace-loving citizens to condemn what it termed a “barbaric and reckless act of violence.”
The statement further asserted that continued bloodshed and fratricidal conflict among Naga groups undermine the collective aspirations, unity, and future of the Naga people.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, justice, and the protection of Naga interests, the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) maintained that such acts of aggression should not be ignored and called for public condemnation of the alleged attack.
