NSCN (IM) has known to its members in particular and the public in general that there was no instruction or directive to the NSCN members to take part in the Nagaland state election campaign in favour of any individual, candidates and political party.
An NSCN (IM)’s statement through its MIP stated that if anyone is found would be doing so at their own individual capacity and risk.
The NSCN (IM) has issued the statement after having come to the knowledge of the collective leadership that certain NSCN members are reportedly using the name of the collective leadership and authorities of the NSCN in the election campaigning in favour of certain party candidates.
In keeping with the stance to stay clear of the Indian election, NSCN has directed its members/ officials involved in the election campaign to refrain from taking part in the election campaign/ mobilisation. It further cautioned that disciplinary action deemed appropriate would be initiated against any NSCN member found violating the directive.
In another statement, NSCN (IM) has condoled the demise of Maj. Etham Yongtishu from Yakshu village under Konyak region, who passed away on February 24 last.
It stated that he enrolled in the Naga army on January 9, 1993, and served the Naga army in various capacities with unwavering patriotism until his demise. While lamenting the loss, it stated that his name would be recorded in the pages of the Naga history for his selfless contributions to the Naga national cause.
It further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
