DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5: The NSCN-IM has termed the statement and alleged pressure put on certain local newspapers on October 2 by the United Committee Manipur (UCM) as deadly against the peaceful solution of the Nagas.
Pointing out that the Indo-Naga ceasefire is a bilateral ceasefire agreed upon between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim, the MIP, NSCN/GPRN, in a release, said: “The so called Manipur State being part of India, you are also part of India whether you like it or not. The issue is between India and Nagas.”
The NSCN-IM also stated that it is unfortunate that UCM is “reacting and intimidating public uprising” against the release of three NSCN cadres detained by the 35th Assam Riffle at Senapati on September 28. “The three Naga Armies were detained under wild allegations and were released as they were proved innocent who did not commit any crime at all.” it stated.
The NSCN-IM wondered that the UCM, which always voices against the removal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) from the so-called Manipur State, totally opposes the ceasefire between NSCN and GoI thereby propagating continuous killing and shooting between the NSCN and the Indian Armies.
“What logic is it?” it asked. “Certainly UCM is house of contradiction. As one point they speak that there is no ceasefire and on the other hand they talk about violation of ceasefire ground rules by the NSCN in Manipur,” the release said.
Definitely with all Naga Army spread across their land to defend their rights and its people, the NSCN-IM said it has nothing to do with the Meitei. “UCM should not panic that we do not ask the land of Meiteis but ask Nagas ancestral land,” it added.
