DIMAPUR — The NSCN (IM) has refuted viral news circulating on digital media platforms concerning the promotion and appointment of Maj. General Honreishang Shadang, MSM, MC.
In a statement, the organisation expressed indignation over the “sensationalisation of unverified news” by digital media outlets, which it said originated from “some elements spreading misinformation regarding the Yaruiwo’s order” promoting Maj. General Honreishang Shadang to the rank of Lieutenant General and designating him to succeed General Anthony Ningkhan as Longvibu of the Naga Army.
According to the NSCN (IM), the decision was a collective one taken by the organisation’s leadership and guided by the Naga Army Rules and Regulations. “No unilateral decision is applied in this kind of high-profile Naga Army Chief, and no such thing as power struggle exists in any respect whatsoever,” the statement asserted.
It further stated that any “concocted piece of information by certain elements should not be magnified by digital media platforms to serve vested interests”.
