Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) has advised the public action committee (PAC) of Naga Council of Dimapur (NCD) “not to stretch its hands too far”, and refuted allegations that its cadres had assaulted a truck driver near Khuzama Excise check gate in Kohima district on November 20.
In a statement issued on Friday, the group dismissed the allegation of assault levelled by the PAC as baseless. “What exactly happened is that our cadres were on duty enquiring the payment of yearly vehicle tax by the truck drivers.
“While this process was going on, one of the truck drivers caused inordinate delay much to the displeasure of our cadres on duty. Our cadres went closer to him and put his hands on his shoulder to have closer talks. But that move created panic and while trying to stay away he hit himself against the truck hurting his head. No money of any amount was taken from him neither a hand was raised against him,” read the statement.
It went on to state that as per the testimony of truck drivers, one Naga woman has been “extorting money” amounting to INR 4000 and INR 20,000 per truck depending on goods carried, in the name of “KK Agency, Lahorijan, Assam”.
According to the group, the Naga woman frequently threatens its cadres that she will send Indian security forces to arrest them. “Consequent to this, Indian security forces managed to arrest many NSCN members,” it stated.
The NSCN (IM) also alleged that she was “working closely” with the security forces to extort money in the name of KK Agency.
