Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): NSCN (IM) Konyak region on Sunday expressed appreciation to the Indian and Naga negotiators for the proposition of a pan-Naga Hoho.
A statement from the group on Sunday asserted that they agree to the proposal "wholeheartedly”.
The stance of NSCN (IM), it reminded, has so far been "complete sovereignty encompassing the whole of Naga inhabited areas”.
“However, the Indians came with their problems saying, ‘Nagas have every right but GoI has its difficulties. So, why not Nagas’ also consider our difficulties?’ As such, GoI proposed for shared sovereignty, supra state, pan-Naga hoho, bicameral houses, increase of both the representatives, territorial council, etc. As per the nature of negotiation, the NSCN side has to think over the intricacies and agree with the GoI’s request for some time for the sake of peaceful settlement,” read the statement.
The group stated that one-third of the Konyaks were in Myanmmar, another in Arunachal Pradesh and the remaining in Nagaland. The proposition of a pan-Naga Hoho with statutory power, would therefore allow these regions to "live together," it maintained, adding that opposition from any individual or group would mean being "against the coming together of their own family."
