The NSCN-IM has expressed unhappiness over the media reports in Manipur on the dead of a man in Chandel district.
“It is very unfortunate that sections of Imphal valley based media are blaming NSCN to the incident of beating and subsequent death of late Thongkhogin at Satu village, Chandel district. According to the NSCN-IM, “valley based media” is to be reminded that blaming the former for every unwanted incident without authenticating the facts will no longer be tolerated. “Such sinister design to tarnish the image of NSCN and to jeopardize the tribal’s solidarity must be stopped once and for all. We will advice the valley based media to get hold of the joint statement of Kuki Inpi and KSO on the matter and report accordingly,” it stated.
NSCN-IM then said it shared sorrows and pain to the lost of late. “Thongkhogin and extend deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We will also request KSO and Kuki Inpi to maintain maturity while dealing with the incident by not dragging NSCN which is totally unrelated and uncalled for. Elements greedily feeding on tribal conflict shall not be given any more fodders,” it added.
