Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said he ‘believes the NSCN (IM) will not interfere directly or indirectly in the state election’.
He said this when asked on the sidelines of the event about his take on the alleged directive issued by a cadre of NSCN (IM) not to vote for state BJP president and candidate of Alongtaki constituency, Temjen Imna Along.
He opined that ‘whatever has been seen may not be correct’, citing his experience during interactions with NSCN (IM) leaders at various occasions. He said ‘they were completely neutral politically’, so he believes in the leadership of group.
Meanwhile, the NSCN (IM) on Thursday clarified that the supposed order signed by Lanuwati Jamir, CAO of Ao Region, on the matter of Temjen Imna Along's candidature in the ensuing Nagaland assembly election was issued on his own accord and not from the ministry of Kilo Affairs.
It expressed regret over the confusion caused by the so-called directive order that has gone viral on social media platforms.
The group also condoled the demise of its leacy, Ghishepu Wotsa from Sumi region, who passed away on February 20. It stated that Wotsa joined the Naga national service on April 18, 2017, and served the nation with loyalty and dedication till his last breath. It said his tireless service rendered to the nation would be cherished.
It further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed the departed soul rest in peace.
