NSCN (IM) imposes Presidential Rule in Wung Tangkhul Region and orders strict Myanmar border lockdown.

DIMAPUR — The NSCN (IM) has announced sweeping administrative and security measures, imposing Presidential Rule in the Wung Tangkhul Region while simultaneously ordering strict monitoring of the Indo-Myanmar border and restricting the outbound movement of all commodities, including petroleum products, towards Myanmar.
In an order issued on June 16, the outfit stated that it had reviewed the prevailing situation in Wung Tangkhul Region and concluded that normal administration was “not feasible at present.”
Invoking powers under Article 3 (viii) of the Yehzabo of Nagalim, the Yaruiwo, Q Tuccu, ordered the imposition of Presidential Rule in the region with immediate effect.
The order stated that a provisional administrative authority has been constituted to discharge the responsibilities of administration until normalcy is restored.

The newly constituted body will be headed by Maj. Gen. (Retd) Ramkhathing Varah as convener, with Maj. Gen. (Retd) K Paisho, Col. (Retd) Chinaoyo Kachui, Wungnaoyung Sayai and Maj. Gen. Kapangkhui Shaiza as members, while Ng Thotmaya will serve as member secretary.
It further stated that all responsibilities earlier assigned to the Kilo ministry under an order issued on April 8, 2026, stand transferred to the provisional authority with immediate effect.
In a separate directive, the Yaruiwo also ordered immediate restrictions on the outbound movement of all commodities, including petroleum products and their derivatives, towards Myanmar.
The order authorised the Naga Army to maintain strict round-the-clock surveillance along the entire stretch of Indo-Myanmar border until further orders.
The directive stated that the monitoring would take effect immediately.
