Dimapur, Dec. 4 (EMN): Responding to news report regarding arrest of its two members namely Brownson and Sunikiu, NSCN (IM) clarified that they were not kidnappers as alleged by the Public Action Committee (PAC) of the Naga Council Dimapur.
In a clarification, NSCN (IM) stated that the two NSCN members had acted upon the request of the Naga businessman on one non-Naga scammer who had swindled lakhs of rupees. It stated that the non-Naga swindlers were detained for questioning when they arrived in Dimapur and not kidnapped as alleged.
It said the main culprit was a former employee of Indian armed forces who was posted in Naga area earlier before being terminated for indulging in illegal activities which he continues to do so even to this day.
“Had it not been for the timely intervention of the NSCN members, he and his team of swindlers would have continued hoodwinking the Nagas,” stated NSCN (IM) press release issued by its MIP. It stated that the two NSCN members were arrested by the police based on false information provided.
In view of the stated circumstances, NSCN (IM) appealed the PAC and Naga CSOs not to randomly accuse the NSCN without verifying the facts. “It will be for the good of all not to quickly jump to conclusions on every sparks of incidents of anti-social activity and attribute to the NSCN on mere guess or suspicion, for it can embolden the anti-social elements to continue with their nefarious activities,” the statement said. Further, NSCN (IM) appealed the police to release the two NSCN members in good faith.
