Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN): Dimapur district authorities have arrested two members of the NSCN (IM) stated to be attached with the armed faction’s “crime cell,” in connection with kidnapping a businessman from the city. The Dimapur police’s public relations establishment issued a press release on Sat. informing about the arrest.
The police said that information was received at East Police Station on Jan. 19 about a businessman who was reportedly abducted from his shop at MP Road by some unknown individuals, suspected to be underground cadres.
“Dimapur police verified the spot and after verification revealed that one Mr. Subash Kumar Jain (45 yrs) proprietor of Amar Agency (garment shop) was reportedly missing from his shop at around 1230 hrs and no one could provide any information about victim or miscreants,” the police stated.
The authorities then examined CCTV footage in a few locations during which one ‘suspected vehicle’ with the registration AS01-9353 (Maruti Swift) was identified.
‘Accordingly the vehicle’s particulars were passed to various agencies under Dimapur commissionerate who were on surveillance duty in various market / places. While conducting search and enquiry, at about 1700 hrs the noted suspect vehicle was intercepted near Aoyimiti village junction along with two NSCN (IM) cadres namely Toki Achumi (23) a “rajapeyu”; Khetoho Jakhalu (23) a “khapur,” both presently attached to one Khekuto Jakhalu, “secy. crime cell (LO) NSCN (IM),” the police stated in the press release.
The two accused were arrested and produced at the East Police Station along with the seized vehicle, the updates informed.
“The arrested accused stated that they had already released the victim Mr. Subash Kumar Jain from Purana Bazar area, and voluntarily accepted their involvement in the crime. In this connection a case has been registered at East PS and further investigation is on,” the police added.
