Dimapur, Nov. 8 (EMN): Top leaders of the NSCN (IM) including its ato kilonser, Th. Muivah; vice chairman Tongmeth Wangnao; and caretaker/ convenor of steering secretariat, KK Angami, have condoled the demise of Chuba Ponger, member of collective leadership and co-convenor of the steering committee, and Imti Ramok, executive member of steering committee, who passed away on November 8.
Chuba Pongen from Moayimti village under Ao region passed away on November 8 at Eden Hospital in Dimapur following a massive cardiac arrest, while Ramok Jamir from Mongsenyimti village under Ao region passed away on November 8 at Zion Hospital in Dimapur after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, Th. Muivah stated that Chuba Pongen was recently inducted into the collective leadership as member after he held various important responsibilities such as kilonser to ministry of chaplee affairs, co-convenor of steering committee etc. Muivah has described him as a young leader whose dynamic characteristics strengthened the nation and the government in times of national necessity.
Muivah lamented that his demise at a stage when he would become vital in strengthening the NSCN was an irreparable loss to the nation. He added that the sacrifices and contributions rendered by Chuba Pongen would never be forgotten but cherished at all times. He has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
In another statement, Tongmeth Wangnao lamented that the untimely demise of Imti Ramok was a terrible blow to him and the Naga which came at a time when the nation is passing through a critical stage to find a meaningful solution to the Naga political issue.
Wangnao stated that Imti, since he joined the national service in 1985, had shown his presence felt in different capacities and occasions.
“We are proud that Ao region has given an eminent son of the soil. We salute Imti Ramok for selfless service to the nation he loved dearly. His legacy will remain with us. May his soul rest in peace,” Wangnao said.
Wangnao also stated that the Naga nation and the Ao region have lost a great patriot in the demise of Chuba Pongen, who had actively performed his role to protect the national interest on all occasions. Wangnao added that his selfless service rendered towards the nation since 1998 would be remembered and cherished for all time to come.
He further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
Meanwhile, KK Angami, lamented that Naga nation has lost a faithful national worker and a great leader in the demise of Ramok Jamir and added that the vacuum created by his demise would not be easy to fill. Angami added that the Naga nation would always cherish the selfless service he had rendered with pride and honour.
He has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
While also condoling the demise of Chuba Pongen, Angami has described him as a stalwart national worker who never failed in his assigned duties.
“He was a man of principle, who was unyielding in his commitment to the Naga people and for the cause of Nagalim. The NSCN salute this great man, an outstanding patriot who gives is preeminent service for the Naga nation,” Angami added.
Angami further stated that his stirring leadership would be remembered for all times to come and history of Naga political movement would give him the place he deserved. He has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
