Dimapur, July 4 (EMN): In a series of intense operations on underground outfits, delivering a major blow to NSCN (IM), joint team of Assam Rifles and Army under the aegis of DAO division conducted successful operations in Motongsa village resulting in destruction of three major NSCN (IM) camps and a logistic dump said PRO Defence, Col C Konwer in a press note.
Based on specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorise and attempting to extort in and around Motongsa village, Jairampur battalion of Assam Rifles in coordination with army launched a massive operation in Motongsa.
During search of the thickly vegetated area the party located and destroyed three NSCN (IM) camps and a logistic base.
The three camps were being used by the outfit as base of operations said Konwer. Destruction of the camp has helped alleviate the problem of extortion and harassment by the carders not only in Motongsa but also in Nampong and Miao circles of Changlang.
The destruction of the camps come as a follow up to a similar operation conducted in Miao circle in March this year resulting in destruction of a NSCN (IM) hideout he said. A massive search operation is in progress to locate and neutralise the fleeing cadres.
