Dimapur, November 1 : Taking note of the statement of Convenor of National Political Affairs Committee (NPAC), GPRN/NSCN, Kughalu Mulatonu that the GPRN/NSCN is expected to begin formal peace talks with the Government of India by March 2017, the NSCN-IM has termed it as “repeated empty claims”.
“There is nothing new about such repeated empty claims that they are schedule for political talks with Government of India and yet all that they discussed since 2007 is confine to ceasefire extension whereby they have accepted to be disciplined under the Indian laws as signed in their ceasefire agreement,” the MIP of NSCN-IM said in a release on Tuesday.
The NSCN-IM alleged that they (GPRN/NSCN) have been telling “invented stories” in order to collect taxes from the people from time to time as is known to the Naga people. “This is for the sustenance of their campers,” it said.
According to the NSCN-IM, the officials of Government of India have repeatedly told Kehoi Campers that there will be only one solution for the Indo-Naga political issue. “The on-going Indo-Naga political talk with Government of India and NSCN representing Naga people is inclusive and final,” it affirmed.
The NSCN-IM also said realising the truth that they have reached a dead end, cadres from GPRN/NSCN in hundreds are coming over months after months to join hands with the NSCN and to further strengthen the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process.
“Therefore, to further prevent emptying their camps Mulatonu has come out with a better idea of befooling the Nagas by stating that political talks with Government of India would begin by March 2017,” it stated.
Also, noting that the Indo-Naga political talks would have resulted in a final solution much before March 2017, the NSCN-IM said therefore, the question of even the existence of the GPRN/NSCN would not arise by then. “Does anyone believe in his sound mind that Government of India will have political talks with non-existence or dissolve organization? It is good to dream within the ambit of possibilities,” it said.
“Therefore, Naga people must realize and not become easy victims of political gimmicks of some jokers. Since the NSCN is in the talks representing the Nagas, we are the one who knows the actual position,” the NSCN-IM said and urged the people to be patient and supportive to the ongoing political talks which will usher in final solution that is inclusive, honourable and acceptable to both the parties that it assured.
