Nagaland registered 263 consumer cases in 2025–26, disposed of 166.
KOHIMA — The Nagaland State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NSCDRC) registered 263 consumer cases during the 2025–26 fiscal year, of which 166 were disposed of, while 97 remained pending, according to the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection's Annual Administrative Report 2025–26.
The report stated that the Nagaland State Consumer Helpline continued to serve as an accessible and responsive platform for consumers by providing guidance, counselling, and information on issues related to banking, insurance, telecommunications, LPG, the Public Distribution System (PDS), transport services, and other consumer-related matters.
During the year, the department verified and certified 9,150 weighing and measuring instruments across the state. The verification covered commercial establishments, petrol pumps, LPG distributors, government departments, and industrial units.
The department also booked 38 cases for violations of the Legal Metrology Act and the associated Rules.

According to the report, the department collected verification fees amounting to INR 27,81,870 and realised INR 35,000 through compounding and seizure fines.
The entire amount was deposited into the State Revenue Account, contributing to the state's revenue.
The report noted that these measures help ensure fairness and accuracy in commercial transactions, strengthen consumer confidence, and promote equitable trade practices across Nagaland.
