Tune Up Channel and Naga Incarnate selected
Two bands, namely Tune Up Channel from Mokokchung and Naga Incarnate from Tuensang have been selected to enter the grand finale of the Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS) 9th Multimedia Campaign.
The bands were selected during the Mokokchung District Zonal audition held at Town Hall Mokokchung on Nov. 14, Thursday.
The bands will compete with other district zonal audition winners at the grand finale slated to be held in Kohima on Nov. 22.
The bands were adjudged on original compositions and cover songs.
Dr Imtiyangluba, DTO/DACO who delivered the keynote address said that the multimedia campaign has launched to create HIV awareness through music especially among the youths.
He noted that the campaign’s objective is to encourage the youths towards vanquishing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS, promote HIV testing and spread awareness to the people in general.
Also, he lamented that despite spreading wide awareness, HIV cases are increasing day by day and among the north-eastern states, Nagaland stands as third in HIV rating which is very troubling.
In this connection, he said music is a tool that reaches every corner to spread awareness about HIV and control the spreading for this deadly virus.
The audition was held on the theme, “Know Your Status, Get Tested & Treated.”
