NRSA and Vungotchu FC in quarter finals

Wokha, Jan.16: Defending champions NRSA and tournament debutant Vungotchu FC became the first two teams to qualify for the quarter final stage in the ongoing 8th edition of the Lotha Football Championship being played in Wokha local ground. In the first match of the day strong contender Okotso SC blanked GHS Youth League 3-0. Pintok scored all the goals in the 27th, 28th & 63rd minutes of play and became the third player to score a hat-trick in the tournament. The second match saw NRSA playing a hard fought 1-0 win over spirited Vungotchu FC. Ilungrai, the hero of the match scored the all important goal in the 60th minutes through a powerful volley as the helpless goalkeeper looked on. Both the teams were vying for the top slot in the group table after having already qualified for the next stage. The last match of the day played between 4G FC and Highlanders FC saw six classic goals being scored between the two teams where 4G FC prevailed 4-2 over Highlanders FC.Renbemo scored all the goals in the 43, 49, 58 & 61st minutes and became the fourth player in the tournament to score a hat-trick. Orenvungo (8) and Erenbemo (67) scored for Highlanders FC. The last league match which will determine the fate of the other 6 teams for the next round will be decided on Tuesday. Tuesday's Match. 1.
