Dimapur, Sep. 7 (EMN): After a reported agreement between the two opposing parties, the Nagaland RMSA Teachers Association - 2006 (NRMSTA - 20016) has called off its agitation that has been going on from Sep. 4 till Sep. 6 and has resolved to resume normal duties ‘at the earliest’.
The state government had invited the NRMSTA - 20016 on Aug. 5 for a meeting to come ‘an amicable solution’ in response to which the agitating teachers put their agitation on hold.
The NRMSTA -2016 teachers had been agitating against a certain office memo which directed them to draw their salaries after a deduction.
Today’s new development of the NRMSTA - 20016 teachers calling off their agitation after the meeting between the two parties.
A press release issued by the association’s President, Sao Venuh and General Secretary Haisoliabe Ndang said that a meeting was held between the government and the NRMSTA -2016 where the department agreed to look into the demands tabled by the association ‘in all its fairness with objectivity and with an open mind’.
It stated that the principal secretary of school education stated that the deadline for signing the office memorandum which was earlier set on Sep 17 has been postponed to Sep. 29 so that a respectable time period may be laid, both for the dept. to cross examine the tabled demands and an equitable decision may be derived by the teachers thereof based on the responses.
“With the issue of Office Memorandum currently under review, the Association directs all its members to restrain from signing the Office Memorandum and to resume their normal duties at the earliest until a conclusion is drawn from the responses given by the dept.” the release stated while at the same time expressed gratefulness to all its members who came from all over the districts and extended their unflinching support for cause.
