Diphu, June 17 (EMN): The deputy commissioner (DC) of Karbi Anglong, Mridul Kr Mahanta during a press conference held at the DC’s conference hall on June 17 said that the complete draft of the National Research Council (NRC) consisting of names of all applicants who are found eligible after due verification will be published shortly according timelines stipulated by the Supreme Court of India.
From the January last till date, the verification for the remaining member of 153, 804 has been going on through the process of office verification, district magistrate investigation team, family tree verification, special verification of married women certificate, Lot Mandal Certificate, and circle officer certificate etc., Mahanta said.
The deputy commissioner also informed that the process of claims and objections will commence after the publication of the complete draft of NRC.
Applicants who did not find their names in the draft will get another opportunity by way of submission of claims for inclusion in the final draft. Opportunity will also be given to the objections against inclusion of any ineligible person. Final NRC will be published only after disposal of claims and objections on June 30. All genuine Indian citizens as per cut-off date of Mar. 24 1971 (midnight) will be included in the final NRC, Mahanta stated.
Further, the DC informed that in case any person’s name is misspelled, improper address, mistake in spelling can approach in the respective 42 NRC Seva Kendras spread in the district.
There are three revenue circles in the district. It added that there are 132,717 application receipt numbers, and the total members is 684, 905 in Karbi Anglong.
