Diphu, Feb. 13 (EMN): Observer of National Register of Citizen (NRC), Amlan Baruah, visited Diphu, Karbi Anglong and had a meeting with leading citizen, public, students, social and political organisation on NRC updation process held at Diphu circuit on February 13. Deputy commissioner of Karbi Anglong Adil Khan and the superintendent of police Dr. GV Siva Prasad were also present in the meeting.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Khan asserted that, as a part of NRC family tree, verification process will start from February 15 across the state, adding Karbi Anglong would also be conducted in 42 NRC seva kendra.
Since there was mismatch in the family tree linkage, he said the 1st phase checking would be conducted in 42 NRC seva kendra from February 17 for confirmation. He added that the 2nd phase would be conducted in 10 centres in Karbi Anglong and 3rd phase at deputy commissioner’s office with one centre.
He said those family trees linkage found mismatch/ difference would be called for confirmation. In this regard, he added that Letter of Information (LOI) would be distributed. He also stated that an investigating officer has been appointed for checking the process.
He informed that those who have received the LOI should not have any fear or apprehension as receipt of the letter is not an indication of being considered doubtful or leading to exclusion from NRC. It was also informed that some applicant who been included in the Part Draft of NRC might also get letter information (LOI) to appear and testify to prevent misuse of their legacy data by any person mischievously.
NRC Observer, Amlan Baruah also said that Karbi Anglong NRC process is going on peacefully till now. He urged the people of Karbi Anglong to give their support and co-operation for success of the process.
