Kohima, August 22 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) today undertook a placards campaign in Kohima against the deplorable roads condition in Nagaland at PWD junction, Kohima.
The participants in the rally displayed holding placards, some of which read, “NPF-BJP led potholes govt,” “Good road citizen right,” “15 years DAN govt. development potholes road,” “We demand good road” etc.
While stating good road is the citizens’ right, NPYC president, Vilhousielie Kengurüse, ridiculed that for the past 15 years under the present DAN government their elections manifesto of “Peace for development and development for peace” has turned into “peace for potholes and development for potholes.”
He alleged that there were no developmental activities taking place except tussle for power and money between NPF that have betrayed the State and shamed the whole Nagas.
“Our State roads have turned into rivers,” he said and reminded that better road would only provide better life standard.
Kengurüse informed that the State youth Congress has file an RTI to the PWD department on August 4 to furnish the details on funding for the roads in the State including Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), North East Council (NEC) project, Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) and annual road maintenance fund received by the State from 2013 to 2017. He further cautioned that they will not shy away from making public the RTI reply and also take up further course of action on receipt of the Department’s response.
Kenguruse questioned as to where have the thousands of crore vanished, while the government is unable to provide quality roads to the people.
Touching upon the issue of MK Pillai case, he said the Congress youth demanded CBI probe into MK Pillai case but the government has remained silent till date. He also called to probe into fuel adulteration and PDS scam. He said the present government no longer works for the interest of the public but on self-interest.
NPYC president mentioned that the protest has started in all the districts with display of placards and affirmed to continue the same until the demand is fulfilled to improve the road condition in the State. The youth volunteers after the rally put up posters in and around the State capital.
