Dimapur, March 30 (EMN): Youths of the Indian National Congress in Nagaland have appealed to the youth of the state to unite to work together to bring positive changes to the people. The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) issued a press release on Thursday denouncing the Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The NPYC said to have met for an emergency meeting on March 30 in Kohima. The Congress youth has “resolved to work steadfastly” under the leadership of K Therie, president of the NPCC, “so as to bring positive change to the present decaying system of governance in the state,” the press release stated. The NPYC stated the appeal: “We call upon all the Naga youth to come forward and join hands to work together in pursuing this positive change in our society. The present system of governance under some unscrupulous selfish leaders cannot continue to hold ransom to the future of our Naga youth.”
The youth cannot remain a mute spectator to the “spoil system that is going on but rise up to the occasion and become pro-active to champion the cause of the people,” the press release stated.
“In this, the NPYC also calls on the youths to get enrol in the organization so as to voice together in unison. The present NPF-BJP DAN government’ has lost all sense of sincerity and transparency in the working system. We express outmost resentment over the prevailing highly integrated corrupt system that is going on. In fact, these leaders have become the ‘master of corruption,’” the NPYC stated.
Further, the Congress youth explained that the frustration of the common man can be seen by the ‘overwhelming backlash against the government during the recent upheaval surrounding the municipal elections.’ It was not just for the issue of elections but an accumulated outburst of people’s anger for total rejection, the Congress youth reminded.
‘And yet, these leaders shamelessly cling on without understanding what moral responsibility is. The present government has mastered the art of corruption to the fullest,’ the press release stated.
The NPYC then referred to recent controversies involving massive backdoor appointments in various departments, illegal work tenders, misuse of office and abetment by former CM and concern minister under CMRDF case, gross mismanagement of Rs 597.63 crore as reported by CAG Report, 373 Incomplete projects in 36 departments denying the intended benefits to the beneficiaries and heralding a whooping deficit of Rs. 1437.84 crore budget ...’
Stating that the list of anomalies is ‘endless,’ the NPYC declared that the ‘gross anomalies’ cannot be just wiped off by simply saying ‘.....these mistakes will not be repeated in the future’ as stated by the present chief minister nor by saying ‘expunge’ to the corruption charges by speaker of the assembly.
“Justice has to be delivered and that those victim backdoor appointees are suitably compensated by these very leaders personally for luring them into their highly integrated web of corruption,” the youths added.
The NPYC has demand from the authorities and the state’s governor to ‘take outmost priority and promptly initiate necessary corrective actions as deemed fit to all the corruption charges.’
“We affirm that the image of the state and the future of the youth cannot remain to be kept boiling in cauldron of corruption by remaining blind to the reality around us,” the Congress youth added.
