NPSC bids farewell to retiring chairman

[caption id="attachment_189054" align="alignnone" width="550"] A Yanang Konyak delivering a speech during the event.[/caption] Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): The Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) bade farewell to its retiring chairman A Yanang Konyak at a solemn function held at Hotel Japfu in Kohima. Konyak is stated to have joined the commission as a member on Feb. 1 2012 and later on was appointed as the chairman of the commission on Feb. 1 2015 and continued to hold the office till he retired on June 13 2018. The function was also held jointly for the office peon Sukhoi Khiamniungan, who retired on May 31 after serving in the Commission for 34 years. A press release received from the NPSC office on Wednesday informed. The NPSC said Konyak was known for his humbleness and patience. He has put in his endeavour to be candidate friendly while upholding the principles of fairness, confidentiality and integrity. During his tenure as chairman, the departmental promotion committee meetings were held regularly thereby stagnation in various departments has been streamlined considerably. The retiring chairman in his farewell speech pointed out that the commission has never been appreciated for conducting its structured examinations regularly. However, he encouraged the members and staff of the commission not to be discouraged with negative criticism but continue to work earnestly with integrity and dedication in the interest for better tomorrow. The farewell function was chaired by Khrupi Sothu, secretary of the commission while the invocation prayer was pronounced by a member Idailung Thou. Short speeches were delivered by officers and staff.
