Dimapur, August 16 : Frustrated at fewer number of posts advertised for NPSC non-technical exam this year, a Facebook group ‘NPSC Aspirants’ members have decided to file RTI in all government offices to unearth backdoor appointments that have been made during the period (06.08.2005-06.08.2016.
A statement issued by Ngukato K. Tsuipu on behalf of Facebook group ‘NPSC Aspirants’ stated that despite P&AR Office Memorandum (No.AR.4/ASSO/(C) Dated 26.02.2001) there has been rampant backdoor appointments in many departments depriving an opportunity to genuine and deserving candidates.
“While every year the number of candidates who apply for NPSC exam keeps on increasing at an alarming rate, the number of posts advertised for NPSC (non-technical) exam 2016 has drastically shrunk to the lowest point in recent years.”
Quoting media report, Tsuipu said, in 2015 as many as 15196 candidates applied for 108 NPSC non-technical posts and that the number of candidates is expected to rise above 16000 mark this year which would mean out of 16000 candidates only 366 candidates will be selected to sit for mains exam.
“(48X7=366), out of 366 candidates only 144 will be selected to sit for Viva-Voce (48X3=144) and finally, only 48 candidates out of 16000 will pass the said exam. A ratio of 333.33 persons per posts (16000÷48) is quite astounding.”
In a state like Nagaland where there are no private sectors to accommodate the ever rising unemployed youths, Tsuipu said, public office is the only hope.
He said, every year a number of posts are stashed away by means of backdoor appointments and that after several years of futile attempts many frustrated youths are compelled to join anti-social forces.
The NPSC Aspirants strongly demanded that employment in government offices be through open competitive exams.
“We demand that all candidates who are holding posts that fall within the purview of NPSC be immediately terminated and requisition be sent to NPSC for conduct of exam to the said posts without any delay. We also appeal to PIOs APIOs in all offices to provide correct information without any bias.
Lastly, we appeal to all right thinking citizens of the land to kindly extend support to our cause.”
