Dimapur, June 3 (EMN): The Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) has requested the Nagaland government to ‘reconsider’ the appointment of Mayang Lima as the state's vigilance commissioner.
A statement from the group on Sunday claimed the appointment of Lima was ‘nothing but a mockery’ to justice system in Nagaland. “The PDA govt is doing disservice to the state by filling the post by its man by way of compensating the lost in election which reflects govt disinterest and insensitivity in fighting against corruption (sic).
“Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) request the PDA govt to reconsider its decision as it will set a wrong precedence and people will lost faith in the anti-corruption office in the state which is highly respectable.”
It stated that the position of Vigilance Commissioner was apolitical in nature and any person appointed to the ‘sensitive position should have no affinity towards any political party’.
Also, the group has asked the government of Nagaland to furnish ‘detail information of facilities provided to newly appointed Non-legislators as cabinet ministers and ministers of state as well as the advisors under RTI act 2005 on 7th may 2018’.
“NPRAAF awaits response from the Govt. to see whether the appointments invite section 21 of IPC. accordingly legal action will be initiated. NPRAAF once again earnestly appeals to the PDA Govt to do away with illegal backdoor appointments of party workers as cabinet ministers & ministers of state at the cost of the state exchequer so that the matter may be put to rest once and for all.”
