Dimapur, July 20: The National Population Registration (NPR) updation for Nagaland commenced today at Kohima. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rovilator Mor said that updating and entry of data in database is very important for the State as well as for the individual.
He urged every agency and individual involved in the commencement of NPR to provide due attention for proper completion of data entries. Also speaking at the programme, Additional Secretary for Home and State Coordinator, NPR, Libanthung said that Government of India has provided ninety days to complete the corrected database. He said that the main purpose of updating was to issue National Identity Cards by 2017. Assistant Director of Census, Nagaland M. Peseyie said the data entry has started in all the districts in the State.
However, he said some districts like Longleng, Kiphire and Peren have been facing problem to download updated data due to lack of internet connection. He hoped that the census exercise would be completed within the stipulated time.
