To seek more Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seats
Dimapur, Feb. 14 (EMN): National People’s Party (NPP), having formed an alliance with the Naga People’s Front (NPF), has envisioned creating ripples of change in every nook and corner of the state. While the party do not promise to bring about an ‘overnight’ and ‘supernatural transformation’ in the state, NPP believes in the idea of development which is gradual, realistic and long-term.
This aspiration of the NPP was mentioned in its party manifesto, which was released for the forthcoming state assembly election on February 13 at its office in Dimapur.
NPP has also promised to pressurise the central government for more representation of Nagas in the Indian Parliament as MPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. It was of the view that more representation in the Parliament would enhance their role in policy making vis-a-vis the majoritarian role of MPs from mainland India.
NPP has also drawn the attention towards development of Eastern Nagaland and other lesser developed regions of the state to empower the people of these regions with exclusive economic schemes and long-term benefits. It promised to bring about drastic changes, including salary of Village Guards.
NPP has also committed in delivering modern facilities and quality healthcare with special care and attention for the people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV).
‘The party will try its best to provide air-ambulances and state-of-the art ICU ventilator ambulances to all the major district headquarters. The setting up of state-of-the-art trauma centres in all the district headquarters will also be a key concern of the NPP as this will ensure that victims of accidents, rapes, to name a few will be properly counselled and given psychological attention,’ NPP promised in its manifesto.
