DIMAPUR, JUNE 26
WHILE appreciating the Nagaland Foothill Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) for its tireless effort for successful implementation of the ongoing foothill road, the NPF Youth Wing has posed some questions on the area of the activities of the committee relating to the construction of the road.
Even as the NPF youth noted that the foothill road is going to benefit not only the present generation but also the future generation of the Nagas, it deeply regretted the ultimatum issued to the NPWD by NFHRCC demanding cancellation of fresh work order recently awarded by the department.
Questioning whether calling for bandh can bring about solution to the problem, the NPF Youth Wing sought to know can a committee be formed just to work for the selfish ends and ask contract work.
The NFHRCC on Wednesday decided to call for total Dimapur bandh ‘sometime next week’ to register its protest against the State government’s refusal to act on its ultimatum.
It stated that the NFHRCC, as an interest group, should maintain the limited areas of its activities and function within the perimeter. “NFHRCC as people’s benefit NGO’s should inculcate optimum patience in getting their common cause demand fulfilled,” NPF Youth Wing in a release issued by its Media Cell said today.
Terming the NFHRCC ultimatum as ‘beyond the purview of the constitution’, the NPF Youth Wing regretted that the committee allowed its platform to become an instrument of senseless forces that are working against the constitutional department and trying to tarnish the ‘paragon’ image of Road and Bridges Minister Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu.
However, extending its support to the step initiated by NFHRCC in the ongoing foothill road construction, it urged the committee to maintain transparency and also defuse confusions of the public for the benefit of the people.
The NPF Youth Wing sought to know whether the NFHRCC is a recognised committee and if so, under what Society Registration Act it is registered.
Asking where did Nagaland PWD go wrong as far as foothill road construction is concerned, the youth wing sought to know was the government or department wrong because of inviting or floating open tender and calling NIT. Was the government or department wrong because the works were not allotted to NFHRCC, it asked while seeking to know was the government or department wrong for not calling NFHRCC for table tender.
“Is allotment of work to the most eligible contractor wrong,” the NPF Youth Wing further asked.
