Dimapur, Feb. 11: Naga People’s Front (NPF) women wing has urged the JCC to immediately call off the bandh that is paralysing the functioning of the government offices and also to embark on a mission to have dialogue with the different tribal bodies and educate the public toward conducting a well-informed elections which will promote development and common good of all the Nagas.
NPF Women Wing placed on record its gratefulness to the Home Minister for bringing out the factual position of what exactly transpired at the closed-door meeting at Chumukedima on January 30 between the Government of Nagaland and the JCC in the presence of the NBCC.
Realising after going through the full text of the January 30 Statement, NPF women wing working president, Khriezobeinuo Sanchu claimed the same was erroneously project in the media that the government had unilaterally abrogated and back-tracked from the agreement signed in the solemn presence of the church and which was passed on to the innocent and unaware church members all over the State.
Claiming that reality was the other way round, it observed that the government agreed to postpone the elections to the ULBs with 33 % reservation for women for a period of two months subject to the Cabinet and State Election Commission decision and that the Chief Minister made it clear to the gathering that the Chief Minister and the Home Minster alone were not competent enough to decide for on behalf of the Cabinet.
It observed that JCC had agreed to ensure peaceful elections to the ULBs with 33 % reservation for women. It also observed that time asked by the JCC (two months) was agreed upon to enable to let the JCC educate and dialogue with different tribal bodies.
As the JCC convenor had signed the document in the presence of the church represented by the NBCC, the NPF women wing requested JCC to immediately call off the bandh which is paralysing the functioning of the government offices and to embark on mission to have dialogue with different tribal bodies and educate the public toward conducting a well-informed elections which will promote development and common good of all the Nagas.
